Susan powell fahey



OWNER AND INSTRUCTOR





Prior to opening the Susan Powell Fahey Dance and Singing Center, Powell Fahey studied ballet, tap and jazz on both local and national levels. She studied from many Broadway and off Broadway choreographers and professional dancers.


At Kent State University, Powell Fahey studied both voice and musical theatre and worked with many musical directors and orchestral leaders. She worked with Flying by Foy of New York City while portraying the lead role of Peter in Peter Pan. Susan’s other lead performance roles include Maria in Sound of Music, Dodger in Oliver and Diana in A Chorus Line. She also performed ensemble work in Is there Life After High School, Cole Porter Revue and Romance, Romance, where she met her singer/actor husband Peter Fahey.


Powell Fahey has choreographed over 100 musicals in the Stark County and surrounding areas, including her most recent choreography for the shows Mama Mia, The Music Man, Frozen, Aladdin, and the Hello Girls for Carnation City Players, and she is co-owner/founder of Shining Starz Productions (SSP) which is a theatrical organization to help young aspiring actors, singers and dancers pave the road to a professional stage career. Susan's most recent endeavor has been co-directing the Shining Starz Broadway style musical revue "Building Spirits" written by SSP partner Herbert Crum. Susan has been a guest teacher/choreographer for Louisville High School choir and drama club productions as well as Avondale Dance Center and Kibler Dance Academy. She has choreographed musicals for organizations including the Canton Players Guild, Firehouse Theatre, Mount Union College, Kent State University, Contract Players and Theatre 8:15.


She also has been recognized for her outstanding choreography from prestigious competitions including Showstoppers, Access Broadway, Kids Artistic Revue and Headlines Performing Arts. She encourages her students by teaching the auditioning strategies for outside activities in their local community theatres, high schools and colleges. Many of her former students have pursued careers in the performing arts. In Spring of 2013, Susan was recognized at Turn It Around dance arts competition as top director and at Access Broadway fine arts competition. Susan’s students and studio have been presented top honors as Best Musical Theatre Dance and Vocal Studio for several years by broadway performing artist Ron Devito of Access Broadway.
